Phoenix Restoration Mike Rice’s Insights
Action COACH Eric Knam: Tell us a little about Phoenix Restoration.
Mike: We’re a veteran-owned restoration contractor. We don’t do construction- we work storm damage, water, wind, and fire. We are also a 24/7 service, we want these folks to get back to normal life as fast as possible. Once we’re done the construction contractors come in and do their thing.
Eric: How long have you been in business?
Mike: We have been opened here in Tulsa since 2014, so about 6 years. But we have locations across the country.
Eric: What differentiates you from other companies out there?
Mike: Having the insurance knowledge is what sets us over the top. We know what the expectations are from insurance and also understand what the customer wants, so we do our best to take care of both.
Eric: What would you say has made you so successful?
Mike: Probably the insurance knowledge, again. Knowing and understanding what insurance is and what it pays for. Not every job is an insurance claim or at least a job that is above their detectable. If it’s not, and our customer is having to pay out of pocket, we understand and try to work with them.
Eric: It’s said that smart people learn from their mistakes and wise people learn from the mistakes of others. What mistakes have you made along the way and how can other entrepreneurs learn from your experience?
Mike: We learned pretty early on how important it is to invest in your employees. We found that spending the money to properly train and certify your employees and management helps them know you’re invested in them and their success and also helps to keep them around longer.
Eric: Do you have any offer you’d like to add?
Mike: 10% discount for first responders and veterans.
