Barry Fleming’s INSIGHTS
We are sort of like an uber for freight. Places like UPS and FedEx handle packages up to 150 lbs. But we take the heavier ones. We ship machines and equipment all over the globe!
Action COACH Eric Knam: How long have you guys been around?
Barry: We have been in business for about 3 years.
Eric: Who is your target audience?
Barry: We service a lot of different industries but being in Oklahoma, I would say our target market is oil and gas.
Eric: What differentiates you from the other people out there who do what you do?
Barry: We are different because we are not the “800-pound gorilla.” There is no level of bureaucracy. We don’t have to go to corporate for decisions and if someone needs more credit we can establish that ourselves.
Eric: What would you say is the biggest impact COVID-19 has had on your business?
Barry: Mostly how we approach our customers now. We have not been able to deal with customers face to face, it’s zoom meetings and phone calls so that has been difficult. Also, the price of oil has really impacted us.
Eric: It’s said that smart people learn from their mistakes and wise people learn from the mistakes of others. What mistakes have you made along the way and how can other entrepreneurs learn from your experience?
Barry: Having a mentor is important. They can keep you under their wing and give you advice, someone who is not a direct competitor but has been there and can talk you through things.
