Action COACH Eric Knam: What makes your business special?
Tom: We’re smaller than a corporate business, but what sets up apart is our customer service and our family focus. We get to know our shoppers on a one-on-one basis.
Eric: Who’s your target market?
Tom: We serve anyone who wants to put an event together. It could be family-focused, retirement or It could be someone wanting to throw a family birthday party, a retirement party, or age-related parties.
Eric: It’s been said that smart people learn from their mistakes, and wise people learn from others. What mistakes have you made along the way, and how can other entrepreneurs learn from your experience?
Tom: I tried not to make waves in transition and not make a lot of changes. Looking back over my first year, you don’t know what you don’t know. I wasn’t quick enough to make the contractual changes and changes for the store to help it become profitable. I was wise in not changing the staff because of their knowledge and experiences. I should have looked into the back office operations for support and changes. We’re in a better position in 2020.
Eric: What’s the best way for people to get in touch with you?
