Business’ Owner’s Insights
Candy Castle is an ice cream, candy, and soda shoppe serving the Tulsa area! They take pride in being the only old fashioned soda shoppe in town. They’ve been in business for 2 ½ years and moved the business downtown July 2019.
Action COACH Eric Knam: What makes your business special?
Andy & Tricia: Our ice cream, Ashby ice cream, is a brand from Michigan. People love our ice cream because it’s really creamy. We have a lot of bulk candy and probably the biggest amount of bulk candy than other candy stores. Our glassware is shaped old fashioned so that you get the feeling you’re in an old fashioned soda shoppe.
Eric: Who’s your target market?
Andy & Tricia: Our candy shop attracts a lot of kids and their families, but downtown is different. We have a lot of “adult” kids that come into our store!
Eric: It’s been said that smart people learn from their mistakes, and wise people learn from others. What mistakes have you made along the way, and how can other entrepreneurs learn from your experience?
Andy & Tricia: Our mistakes have revolved around things like inventory control and things like that. It’s hard to predict. We’ve improved throughout time and been able not to have a lot of excess inventory.
Eric: What’s the best way for people to get in touch with you?
Eric: Are there any special deals or offers that you’re offering right now?
Andy & Tricia: If you mention Action COACH when you buy a hand-packed pint, get one FREE!
